Magical Aspens that dapple sidewalks, catch the light and flicker, winking yellow in the wind. The high country in the Southwest is always an amazing place to find yourself, but my favorite time of year is fall. Maybe because I was born in September, but the shorter days and cooler breath of the wind as the days turn from summer, are like a home coming to me. I feel my spirit loosen, and the imaginary wings on my back unfurl to catch a ride on a western wind.
Seeing Aspens turn to their golden yellow splendor has the same effect. Something inside me wants to stand up and cheer, and then cry with the beauty of those yellow bands of gold covering the mountains.
About Cathy Carey
Contemporary Expressive Colorist Cathy Carey was born in Washington, DC. and grew up in Alexandria, VA. She was educated at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC, and received a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Several years later Carey moved to Southern California and continued painting, and started a business in graphic design and illustration. She works in all media’s including Photoshop to create images. She currently maintains a studio and teaches workshops in San Diego, CA and Santa Fe, NM., and has taught at the Art Institute of CA in San Diego.
